We welcome a new FACS teacher to White City.
Mrs. Morganne Sobba is from Tampa, KS. She is the new FACS teacher here in White City. However, Mrs.Sobba isn’t new to our schools. Before coming to White City, she taught in Hope for 8 years. In Hope, she taught 4th and 5th graders. She is now teaching our FACS class for Hope and White City. She teaches in White City on White days and in Hope on Black days.
Mrs.Sobba says that her favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with her students. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family. Mrs.Sobba said she chose to teach FACS because it seemed like a good fit for her interest in baking.
We wanted to know some more about Mrs.Sobba’s education. Mrs.Sobba graduated from Hillsboro KS. While in High School, she took FACS classes. In addition, she also completed the teaching pathway. After High School she decided to go to college at Kansas State University.
FACS stands for “Family and Consumer sciences.” In class students learn about practical and real life skills. These skills are needed for independent living, future careers, and personal well being. Some of the topics covered are culinary arts, nutrition, personal finance, and management. There are many more topics to learn about.
