Have you seen any “little green men” around the school?  They aren’t aliens.  They’re leprechauns!

Once again, the 3rd grade class is out to catch those pesky creatures!  The annual event took place on March 24th, 2026.  Students will try to snag one of those elusive leprechauns - once and for all!

We asked about how long Ms. Hinkle had been doing the leprechaun traps.  Ms. Hinkle said,  “I have been doing Leprechaun Traps for at least 15-17 years.”

How many kids have actually caught a leprechaun?  Ms. Hinkle answered, “There hasn't been a third grader who has caught the leprechaun, although some have heard him in their trap. But somehow he always sneaks out and runs away.  In all the years I have been doing Leprechaun Traps the leprechaun always leaves a trail of green and gold leprechaun dust, along with stealing gold coins, Lucky Charms, and Rolos. I am hoping that someday a third grader will catch the mischievous leprechaun.”  With this strategy, 3rd graders are well prepared to catch one!

Stories of leprechauns come from Irish folklore, where they are rich with magical powers.  In such stories, they are described as no more than 2 or 3 feet in height. The fairy-like creatures with their red beards and green clothes are known for their gold pots and granting wishes to people that catch them.  If you follow the rainbow to its end, you might find a leprechaun!

Stay tuned to find out if 3rd grade had any luck!
