Since Mr. Hensley is now our new principal, we wanted to ask some questions to get to know him better.
We asked him how his school year is going so far. He said, “The year is going well. It's hard to believe it is already October.“ Then we asked about his educational background. “I graduated from Wabaunsee in 2006, Emporia State in 2012 and got my Masters from Fort Hays State in 2021”, he replied.
We asked where he was from. He said that he was from Alma, Kansas. We then asked about why he came to White City. He said, “We wanted our kids to be in a smaller school.”
He said he likes to help the students and, “Watch them grow into productive citizens.”
We asked about his experience in education and he replied, “I taught Physical Education in Hope for 9 years before I transferred to White City as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director to my role now as Principal.” We also asked if he had any family that taught education and he said there wasn't.
We asked about how he spends the average school day. He said, “I like being able to see all grade levels at any point of the day.”
We wondered about his other positions in education. He said that he is an Athletic Director, High School Girls Basketball Coach, and Bus driver.
The last thing we asked him was “What do you do in your free time?” He replied that he likes to spend time with his family.
