We wanted to find out more about one of our trusty paras! This para profile focuses specifically on Mrs. Tina Wilmore.
We asked her when she started. She said, “I started working here in January 2025.” Then we questioned her about why she chose to be a para. She replied with “I wanted a change and to be able to help kids.”
We asked what’s the easiest and hardest part of your job. She continued with the easiest part: “The desire to help others comes easy for me,” and the hardest part was, “The schoolwork can be challenging, I am learning right along with the students.”
We continued with what’s the most rewarding part of your job? She replied with, “I love helping kids continue in their school work and love to talk and have fun with all of the kids.” Then we asked about her opinion on education. She said, “Education is very important, but I do know that everyone learns at a different level. I have found out through the years, I am one that learns by doing. Now do I think college is for everyone no. But I do think learning a trade is a good thing.”
She also told us that she enjoyed school until the 9th grade and went to school here in White City. We asked her what she did before this. She said she went to get “Certified Med Aid at a nursing home. I have worked at the nursing home for 6 years. I still work at the nursing home PRN.”
For the final question we asked what she does for fun. She said, “Spend time with my family and friends. Plus following the grandkids around to the different things they participate in. I love my critters. I have a variety of critters on the farm. I have fun going thrifting, and to garage and estate sales. I enjoy sewing and DIY projects. I also have a green thumb for gardening and houseplants.”
